Macao’s young filmmakers have the opportunity to learn from veteran Hong Kong art director Lui Cho Hung in this year’s Film Arts Training Programme, which is accepting applications until 26 June.
Co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (known by its Portuguese initials IC) and Wynn Macau, the programme offers more than 60 hours of professional guidance over twelve days across July and September.
In groups, participants will also produce a short film to be evaluated by their instructors. The team deemed to have the best art direction will win a cash prize of 50,000 patacas.

Lui is an award-winning art director whose films include the Infernal Affairs trilogy, Daisy, Lust, Caution and Painted Skin. He serves as vice chairman of the Hong Kong Film Arts Association.
The IC said it hoped the Film Arts Training Programme would “provide opportunities for local youth to improve their professional skills and cultivate diversified talents for Macao’s film and television industries.”
Applicants must be Macao residents aged 18 or over, who have graduated from high school. More information on how to apply can be found on the respective websites of the IC and Macao Cultural and Creative Industries.
