A worker at the site of Galaxy Macau’s phase 2 expansion died when he fell from scaffolding in the second Cotai construction fatality reported by Macau’s Labour Affairs Bureau this week and the third this year.
Police said the worker, a resident of mainland China, fell from 12 meters as a result of a safety harness that was not secured properly.
The bureau suspended all scaffolding work at the site.
Earlier this week, the bureau reported a mainland worker at the MGM Cotai site died of injuries suffered after he was struck by a concrete tube when a chain attached to a crane that was moving the tube suddenly broke according to Asian Gambling Brief.
The bureau said it had instructed the contractor to stop using all cranes and hoists, inspect the site, and address safety concerns.
The bureau added that an investigation into the accident was on-going. (macaunews/asiagamingbrief)
