China’s Olympians will pay a special visit to Macao from 19 to 21 December, Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun has announced.
Pun said that this summer Team China won 38 gold, 32 silver and 18 bronze medals, garnering a total of 88 medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. On 19 December the Olympians will enter Macao from the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) after 14-days of mandatory quarantine in Zhuhai following their visit to Hong Kong which ended yesterday.
Pun noted that during their visit, they will attend a raft of events, such as experience-sharing with young athletes, a large-scale night gala and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. He added that the gala will take place on 20 December at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.
The bureau said that tickets for the gala will be free of charge. Those who are interested can sign up online to join a lucky draw. The winners will have a chance to be one of the 3,300 people to meet the Olympians in person. The bureau underlined that Macao residents (ID cardholders), as well as non-resident workers, are eligible to enter the lucky draw.
The sign-up period is from 11 December at 9 am to 15 December at 9 pm on www.sport.gov.mo. The result for the lucky draw will be announced in the afternoon of 14 December. Those who are selected will be able to pick up their tickets from 15 to 17 December from 9 am to 9 pm. Each person can at most get two tickets, and seats will not be assigned.
In order to comply with the Covid-19 prevention and control measures, the people who are attending the night gala must present a nucleic acid test negative result taken in the last seven days, wear a facemask, get their temperature checked, and display a valid Macao Health Code, The Macau Post Daily reported.
