The Infrastructure Development Office (GDI) said in a statement on Tuesday that it expects the construction of a complex comprising the new headquarters of the Public Security Police (PSP) and its tactical unit in the Zone E1 land reclamation area to get off the ground in the first half of next year.
Zone E1 lies off Pac On in Taipa between the Macao-Taipa Friendship Bridge and the Taipa Ferry Terminal.
The office unsealed bids submitted by 17 construction companies for the construction of the project on Tuesday. All bids were accepted.
According to the statement, the quotations proposed by the 17 bidders range from MOP 888 million to MOP 1.172 billion (US$111.31–146.91 million).
According to the statement, the office has set a maximum period of 1,000 working days for the winning bidder to complete the project.
According to the statement, the construction periods proposed by the 17 bidders range from 850 to 980 working days.
The Public Security Police are currently headquartered in Zape. The current headquarters of its tactical unit, officially known as Special Police Unit, is located next to the Barrier Gate border checkpoint.
The new complex on Zone E1 will house the new Public Security Police headquarters and also the new police tactical unit headquarters.
According to yesterday’s statement, the site where the new nine-storey complex will be located covers about 7,000 square metres. The U-shaped complex comprising three buildings will have a gross area of about 80,000 square metres. The complex will also include a two-storey underground car park.
According to the statement, the complex will have an operational command room, a 999 emergency hotline operational control centre, press conference rooms, multifunction rooms, arms and ammunition storage rooms, detention cells, office spaces, and back-office equipment and devices for the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system.
In addition to the new Public Security Police complex project, the new headquarters of the Macao Customs Service will also be built on the still-undeveloped Zone E1 reclamation area. The Infrastructure Development Office unsealed bids submitted by 19 construction companies last month for the new customs headquarters project, which is also slated to get off the ground in the first half of next year. The quotations submitted by the 18 accepted bidders range from MOP 632 million to MOP 738 million.
