The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced in a statement on Wednesday that it will organise the 20th Lotus Flower Festival concurrently with the “39th Green Week” from tomorrow to June 21.
Considering the novel coronavirus epidemic situation, this year both events will be “simplified”, and no opening or closing ceremonies will take place, the statement noted.
Both events will take place in Avenida da Praia in Taipa.
According to the statement, the bureau reminds citizens who attend the events to follow health guidelines and officials’ instructions on site when appreciating the flowers.
This year’s thematic lotus is the “Imperial Lantern”, a species introduced to Macao in 2016, the statement said.
It is a medium-to-large-sized lotus, with red, shiny and dense petals, the statement underlined.
This year, the Taipa Houses–Museum will be themed “Children’s Tale of the Snow Country”, and the premises will be decorated in Russian style, including installations such as “Candy City”, “Iron Castle”, “Fantasy Pumpkin Coach”, and “House of Coloured Crystal Snowballs”, the statement noted.
In addition to the Green Week, the bureau will organise various contests to celebrate the event, the statement said.
The contests will include the Green Week Composition Contest – Verdant Macau leading up to the 40th edition of Macau Green Week, the Garden Design Competition – Dream Garden in balcony, and the Lotus Flower Photo Contest.
Anyone is welcome to participate. For more information, visit the bureau’s official website at www.iam.gov.mo or the Nature of Macau official website at nature.iam.gov.mo/p/default
