Secretary for Administration and Justice Sónia Chan Hoi Fan has been authorised to sign on behalf of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) government an agreement with the government of the Argentine Republic on a mutual visa waiver, according to an executive order published in the Official Gazette (BO) on Monday.

The order, which took immediate effect, was signed by Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On.

The order did not say when and where the deal will be inked.

A total of 142 countries and regions have agreed to grant visa-free access or visa-on-arrival to Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) passport holders, according to the website of the Identification Services Bureau (DSI).

Meanwhile, Chan has also been authorised by Chui to sign an agreement with South Korea on the surrender of fugitive offenders, according to yesterday’s Official Gazette.

According to the Macau Post Daily, the executive order did not elaborate on the future extradition agreement.

Macau and Portugal signed an agreement earlier this year on the surrender of fugitive offenders.
