Ferry services between Macau and Sheung Wan were suspended again Sunday night as the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement that the ferry terminal there was “not suitable for use”.
The statement was issued at 6:15 p.m., as protestors and police clashed in Sheung Wan.
“As the ferry terminal in Sheung Wan in Hong Kong is not suitable for use, the sailings between the Outer Harbour, Taipa and Sheung Wan in Hong Kong have been suspended,” the DSAMA statement said.
The ferry terminal in Sheung Wan is located in Shun Tak Centre.
Turbojet said in a statement last night that due to the “current situation” in Sheung Wan, all sailings arriving or departing Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal would be temporarily diverted to the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, with 6 p.m. being the last sailing from Macau to Hong Kong’s Sheung Wan.
According to the Macau Post Daily, Cotai jet also had similar sailing arrangement, with the statement saying that the arrangement was “in anticipation of a rally in Sheung Wan”.
Sunday was the second time that the Macau-Sheung Wan ferry service was suspended because of the violent protests in Hong Kong. The first suspension was on July 21.
The service is back to normal Monday morning.
