The new president of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), Cecilia Tse said Tuesday that one key element of her leadership will be the improvement of the IC’s administrative transparency.
“Give us some time. We will surely share with you (the public), regularly and frequently, details about our work regarding its progress and implementation,” said Tse during her swearing-in ceremony
Tse, that previously was vice-president at the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), said she believe that all government departments have great protection measures towards Macau’s cultural specificities.
“Even though I worked before in a different department, I also defend Macau’s cultural heritage” she said quoted by Macau Daily Times.
Tse added that she has participated in works related to the promotion of Macau’s cultural heritage.
“I disagree with the idea that just because [someone] has always been working in the IC, (that person]) has an inclination toward cultural protection and a passion for culture” she also said.
Tse announced that in 2018, a series of forums and exhibitions will be organized as measures to build Macau as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
When talking about the IC’s future recruitment, the cause of the recent post shuffle, Tse expects to simplify the administration.
Tse also mention the protection of Macau’s cultural heritage to say that “we will follow, as always, the instructions of the cultural heritage laws, and we will coordinate with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in order to perform well in terms of cultural heritage protection.”
“There is a lot of work for us to do on how to establish a balance between cultural heritage protection and urban development ”she said.
