LIV Golf returns to Hong Kong this week, blending high-stakes competition on the course with a diverse array of world-class experiences for eventgoers, reports Golfing HK.

The four-day tournament at the Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling begins on Thursday, marking its third consecutive year at the historic club. A total of 57 players, split into 13 teams of four and five wild card players, will compete for a US$20 million individual purse and a US$10 million team purse, with two of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking among the contenders.

John Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, David Puig, Tyrrell Hatton and Cam Smith are among the favourites for this year’s event, joined by returning champ Sergio Garcia and Fireballs GC.

For those looking for a break from the extended 72-hole format adopted this year, the event also offers culinary exploration with Michelin-starred chefs, performances by international DJs, stunning street art and daily performances from the Hong Kong Ballet.

Each day of the tournament will start with excerpts from artistic director Septime Webre’s award-winning ballet Romeo & Juliet. The reimagined tale abandons fair Verona for the streets of 1960s Hong Kong, fusing classical dance with old Hong Kong to a soundtrack of Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might.”

Music takes centre stage on Saturday evening with acclaimed DJ and producer Dom Dolla headlining the mainstage, marking the Australian artist’s first performance in the region. A curated lineup of DJs from leading Lan Kwai Fong venues will join him, bringing a taste of Hong Kong’s club scene to the sporting event.

DJ beats also form the backdrop to Savour, the LIV Golf culinary experience treating eventgoers to twice-daily live chef demonstrations from Christian Mongendre of Treehouse, Shane Osborn of Arcane and Gavin Chin from House of Culture. If you miss out on the samples of their signature dishes, take a turn through the Bites of Hong Kong food market for an authentic blend of Cantonese dishes and global favourites, plus two full-service bars.

Other Fan Village highlights include live mural painting and drop-in workshops, challenging games in the Fan Zone, and a Kids Zone with a healthy mix of hands-on fun and digital delights.
