Sun Hung Kai & Co. Hong Kong Race Week 2026 officially got underway today, bringing more than 300 young sailors from across Asia and beyond to Hong Kong waters for one of the region’s premier junior sailing events.
Now in its 10th edition, the regatta incorporates the 2026 29er Asian Championship and continues to attract a strong international turnout. According to the International 29er Class Association, the combined event features 285 boats and 317 sailors entered across the fleets.

Commodore Adrian Pang said the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club was proud to once again host the regatta at its Middle Island Water Sports Training Centre, highlighting the club’s long-standing role in organising world-class local and international sailing competitions.
Regatta Chairperson Lucy Sutro welcomed sailors from around the world, noting that Hong Kong Race Week continues to gain stature on the global youth sailing calendar. She added that many competitors view the event as a key stepping stone in their preparation for major international competitions, including the Asian Games.
Approximately one third of competitors have travelled from overseas, with sailors representing 12 countries and regions, including Australia, the Chinese Mainland, Greece, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Macao, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

According to event organisers, Hong Kong Race Week continues to serve as a key development platform for aspiring Asian sailors and also acts as a selection event for Hong Kong athletes in the 29er and ILCA 4 classes ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.
They also highlighted strong visiting contingents from Singapore and the Chinese Mainland, alongside competitive fleets across the Optimist, ILCA and 2.4mR classes.
Racing will take place across 10 classes and multiple course areas throughout the week, with sailors contesting a packed schedule as Hong Kong Race Week continues.
