Xia Baolong’s week-long fact-finding tour of Macao ended yesterday after a visit to the Macao East Asian Games Dome and nearby Athletes Training and Development Centre, accompanied by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and Macao’s culture and social affairs secretary Elsie Ao Ieong.

At the centre, Xia conversed with coaches and athletes about their preparations for the 2025 National Games, according to a statement issued by the Government Information Bureau. Next year’s games are being jointly hosted by Guangdong province, Macao and Hong Kong.

The day before, Xia held a breakfast meeting with Macao delegates to the National People’s Congress and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), along with Ho and the city’s senior justice and administration official André Cheong.

Earlier in his tour, Xia visited Hengqin, spoke with community groups and leaders, met with officials and inspected the new Macao Bridge – the fourth cross-sea bridge to connect the peninsula with Taipa.

Xia, who has served as director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office since 2020, last visited the SAR a year ago.
