Sands Resorts Macao launched a check-in and direct bus transfer service to Hong Kong International Airport on 1 March, becoming the first integrated resort to do so, according to multiple media reports.

Sands China’s vice president of sales, Stephanie Tanpure, told media that “the introduction of airport check-in and direct bus transfers is a critical component of our response to calls to enhance the accessibility of Macao as a destination.”

Once guests have completed check-in procedures for their flights at the integrated resort, they can proceed to the Venetian Macao and board a direct bus service to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge port, connecting to Hong Kong airport.

A US-based events organiser told Travel Daily News that the move by the casino operator will bring Macao closer to becoming “a truly international MICE destination” as the added convenience would make the city “a preferred destination for corporate events and conferences.”

According to figures from the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (known by its Portuguese initials IPIM), around 20 convention and exhibition events will be held in the first quarter of 2024, attracting approximately 33,000 delegates to the city,

Macao is aiming to host 1,500 MICE events in 2024, IPIM says.
