How does the idea of flying to an unknown destination for a short holiday sound? Air Asia and CLS Holiday are now making that a reality with their new “No Clue Escape” tour, which has been promoted as Asia’s inaugural blind box tour – a travel package in which the destination and itinerary are kept under wraps from tour members until they’re in the air.

According to AirAsia, the tour will depart from Hong Kong and will last for 5 days, taking place between 20 and 24 September. Participants will depart from Hong Kong on AirAsia flight AK139, which normally flies to Kuala Lumpur, although its destination will change for the purposes of this tour.

The cost per person is HK$4,888 (including tax) and includes the flight, 4-star to 5-star hotel accommodation, breakfasts and dinners, as well as transport. Registration for the blind box tour begins today, with only 20 spots available. Interested participants are invited to WhatsApp +852 6596 6835 for more information.

Regarding the new initiative, Frankie Chow of CLS Holiday said he was inspired by similar mystery tours offered overseas. “My choice to partner with AirAsia stems from their recent streak of innovations, which includes not just upgrades to the airline’s infrastructure but also the introduction of exciting new destinations, adding to the thrill of our tours,” Chow added.

Air Asia currently offers flights to over 130 places. The Macao and Hong Kong SAR passports currently allow for visa-free or visa on arrival travel to 144 and 170 countries respectively, meaning that there are numerous possibilities in terms of the destination of the blind box tour.

While the idea of a mystery tour is novel in Asia, the concept has gained increased popularity in Europe in recent years.
