Air Macau flew a wide-body aircraft from Hangzhou to Macao last Sunday morning, the carrier announced

Shortly after landing in the SAR, the Airbus A330-300 flew on to Beijing on another scheduled flight. The plane is scheduled to fly once a day between Macao, Beijing and Hangzhou.

The Macao-based carrier said that it intended to add a second wide-body aircraft to its fleet in the second half of this year, and is hoping to use it to serve Middle Eastern destinations.

Air Macau has operated a wide-body aircraft before, using an A300-600R aircraft on a Taipei-Macau-Shanghai route in 2006. However, it repurposed it into a cargo plane the following year.

Mainland Chinese travellers continue to make up almost half of the passengers flying into Macao, accounting for 46 percent of the total.

This is followed by international and Taiwanese passengers, who make up for 38 percent and 16 percent of the passenger volume respectively.
