Hong Kong driver Gerrard Xi, won the first Formula 4 race of the Macau Grand Prix today after an intense dispute with Macao driver Charles Leong who had initially taken the lead in the eight-lap race.
Leong said he slipped from pole position after an accident that led to a race stoppage.
In third place was Macao driver Andy Chang, who secured top spot on the grid for today’s race.
All the drivers race the Macau Grand Prix with Mygale SARL-M14-F4 cars.
Gerrard Xie will occupy first place on the starting grid tomorrow for a 12-lap race that will close the programme of the 69th Macau Grand Prix.
The Macau Grand Prix will continue in the event of a no. 3 typhoon signal
Meteorologists say there is a ‘high’ chance of the signal being hoisted, but race officials say the show will go on
