Macau, China, 27 Oct – Six years after winning the Volvo China Open in Shanghai, David Gleeson won his second Asian Golf Tour title with a three-shot victory over Taiwan’s Lin Wen-tang in the US$500,000 Macau Open Sunday.

Gleeson opened with two rounds of 64 to lead by five strokes, added a 69 on Saturday and was only once threatened Sunday when Taiwan’s Kao Bo-song drew level at the second hole. Gleeson responded by birdying three of the next four holes.

He finished clear of Lin (66), with Kao (71) recovering from a mid-round stumble to birdie the last hole for third place at 14 under, one behind Lin.

Mars Pucay (Philippines) and Yasin Ali (England) shared fourth at 13 under par. The first prize of US$79,250 more than doubled Gleeson’s season earnings to US$146,800 and helped him jump from 57th to 21st on the overall money-list.

David Gleeson won the China Open when he was 24.

Gleeson’s aim is to win exemptions to the European Tour and then full playing rights.
