More than 12,000 runners took part in the 2022 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon on Sunday, although due to pandemic restrictions no competitors from overseas were able to take part.

Mainland Chinese Li Meizhen, in the women’s race, and Guan Yousheng, in the men’s, were the outright winners of the race, which was held along the main thoroughfares of Taipa and Coloane, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Li ran the 42.5 kilometres in 2 hours, 40 minutes and 26 seconds while winner Guan Yousheng clocked a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 3 seconds at what was his first attempt.

The half marathon winners for the Men’s and Women’s races were athletes Wang Kun and Yin Xiaoyu respectively.
