The University of Macau’s (UM) will welcome the public at its annual Open Day on 16 January.

The university will stage various activities such as “admission consultation, lectures, visits to state key laboratories and family-friendly activities”. The event welcomes local residents, students and parents, as well as tourists, with an opening ceremony to be held at 11 am in the UM Guest House’s Multifunctional Hall.

The open day will run from 11 am to 5 pm involving “various faculties, residential colleges and laboratories, as well as the university library and Sports Complex”.

Consultation booths providing information about academic programmes offered by the different departments will be set up in various locations. The university also said that students and their parents can visit departments they are interested in to learn more about their programmes and the respective admission process to enable them to prepare for UM’s entrance exam or the city’s joint entrance exam.

The open day includes other activities such as experiments, exhibition booths, science talks and workshops, as well as a “PR Student Ambassador” guided campus tour. An information counter will be located at the Library Plaza. For a chance to win a “folding UM Bicycle”, visitors can collect stamps at various locations on campus.

On-campus restaurants and shops will be open to the public offering various discounts, The Macau Post Daily reported.
