Macau’s bus link with Hong Kong via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) has been suspended from today.

The suspension sine die was announced during today’s daily press conference by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre. Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) official Inês Chan Lou told the press conference that the suspension scheduled to take effect at 00:00 tomorrow, April 6, was needed to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in a statement that starting today the operating hours of the Hong Kong-Macau immigration counters at the delta bridge have been reduced from 24/7 to 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The “Golden Buses” were the last public transport link between Macau and Hong Kong. Hong Kong unilaterally suspended its ferry link with Macau on February 3.

Dual licence plate (HK/Macau) car and freight vehicle traffic across the bridge will continue.
