Macau’s airport recorded 115,676 passengers between January 24, Chinese New Year’s Eve, and January 28, the fourth day of the CNY, a 25 per cent decline compared with the same CNY period of 2019.

According to a statement by the Macau International Airport Company (CAM), the decrease was bigger than expected.

However, the statement underlined that the airport’s passenger movement for the whole of last month still rose eight per cent to some 830,000.

Due to the novel coronavirus threat, a number of airlines have drastically reduced their flights at the airport, namely affecting flights to the Chinese mainland, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Malaysia. The airport does not provide direct intercontinental flights.
