The government announced on Wednesday that approximately 90 per cent of the tasks outlined in its Five-Year Development Plan were completed between 2016 and 2018, according to a statement by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS).
The findings are based on a mid-term evaluation of Macau’s first Five-Year Development Plan (2016-2020), and the evaluation indicates it has achieved its objectives in line with its timetable between 2016 and 2018, the statement noted.
The evaluation results are broadly “consistent” with a third-party evaluation, and the overall assessment by the local community, the statement underlined. The statement did not reveal the name of the third-party entity.
According to the statement, the Five-Year Development Plan is a blueprint for the city’s social and economic development between 2016 and 2020, adding that the government has been devoted to upholding the principles of “developing Macau with steady progress, while prioritising the improvement of people’s livelihoods and developing Macau with a diversified economy” underlined in the plan, the statement noted.
According to the statement, the plan encompasses a vision to develop Macau into a “world-class” centre of tourism and leisure, and a city where people can enjoy living and working, travelling and entertaining themselves at international standards.
According to the Macau Post Daily, the mid-term evaluation contains a preface, conclusion and four main chapters. The main chapters focus: 1) execution of major works planned for 2016 to 2018; 2) people’s livelihoods improvement; 3) commitment to economic development; 4) promotion of public governance.
According to the statement, the mid-term evaluation document is available in Chinese and Portuguese on the website of the Chief Executive’s Office, and the website of the Committee for Development of the World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.
