Chinese President Hu Jintao on Saturday met with Chui Sai On, chief executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) and expressed the recognition of the current situation of Macau as well as the work of the Macau SAR government.

He urged the SAR government to attach great importance to the work related to local residents’ livelihood, and strive for new achievements in an all-round manner.

Chui said the situation is stable in Macau and the government is concentrating its efforts on economic development and improvement in people’s livelihood, while exploring Macau’s unique advantage for new progress.

Hu was in Hong Kong for a three-day trip to attend celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China and the swearing-in ceremony of the fourth-term government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Chui was also invited to the celebrations.(macaunews)
