Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng’s official trip to Hainan is likely to prove highly beneficial for both Macao and China’s premier resort island.

Heading a delegation from Macao, Ho attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference on Tuesday, where he listened to a keynote speech delivered by President Xi Jinping via video link.

During a meeting with the secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Shen Xiaoming, Ho discussed how to bolster bilateral ties in tourism, technology, financial services and traditional Chinese medicine to support economic development.

Ho also met Hainan Governor Feng Fei to discuss environmental protection and human resources.

At a third meeting, with the chairman of the Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Hao Peng, Ho exchanged views on cooperation in healthcare, innovative financial services, science and technology and cultural industries.

Later Ho visited the Mova Mall duty-free complex, where he noted its success as a reference for Macao’s economic diversification drive.
