Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and four of the city’s five secretaries are in Guangzhou today to meet with leading Guangdong government officials to discuss common interests regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and the economy.

During the meeting in the capital of Guangdong province, officials from both sides will discuss how to advance cooperation between Macao and Guangdong as well as promote the development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The two sides will also discuss joint Covid-19 prevention and control measures together with Macao’s economic recovery, according to a statement from the Government Information Bureau.  

The Macao delegation, which left this morning and is scheduled to return to Macao later today, includes Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon, Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U and Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau Director Cheong Chok Man.
