The National Immigration Administration (NIA) of China has announced today that from 23 September, all mainland China residents can visit Macao with individual and group travel visas.

Chinese authorities have said that the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) visas will be issued under the premise that the COVID-19 pandemic situation in mainland China and Macao continues to improve.

The announcement by the NIA also indicated that individual and group travel visas will be resumed for residents from the whole of the Guangdong province from 26 August.

From Wednesday onwards, Zhuhai residents are allowed to visit Macao with individual or group visas. The NIA also said that Chinese residents living in “medium” to “high-risk” pandemic areas or that have been in these areas within 14 days before the application will not be allowed to visit Macao.

Individual and group visas for mainland residents had been suspended since January.
