The Public Security Police (PSP) announced Thursday the arrests of two mainland women for false imprisonment and loan sharking on Wednesday.
According to The Macau Post Daily, a PSP spokesperson announced the arrests in a regular press conference.
According to the spokesperson, three suspects, all from mainland women, are allegedly involved in the case but only two of them, surnamed Kou and Koo, aged 26 and 30 respectively, were arrested.
The spokesperson said that the three mainland women approached the victim, a 40-year-old local man surnamed Ho, saying that they could lend him some money after he blew all his cash on the gaming tables in a casino in Cotai on Tuesday.
The trio lent Ho HK$400,000, with a deal being struck in which Ho had to pay 10 percent of each bet as instant interest on the loan. The victim had to clear the loan plus interest by yesterday, the spokesperson said.
Ho told police that after gambling and losing all the money he borrowed at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, he was detained against his will in a hotel room by the three mainland women. The suspect who is still at large left the room during the night and asked Koo and Kou to keep an eye on Ho, promising to give them 30 percent of the interest of the loan in payment.
Ho managed to call a friend for help on Wednesday afternoon who then called the police for him. The police arrived at the hotel room and arrested the two suspects, according to the spokesperson.(macaunews)
