Newly appointed Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Macau Ye Dabo said he would lead his staff in implementing the “One Country, Two Systems” principle and the Macau Basic Law, pledging to serve “wholeheartedly” the city’s development and local compatriots.
The commissioner’s office hosted a reception on Thursday to introduce Ye to the public.
Addressing the reception, Ye said that the “remarkable improvement” in the nation’s international standing and the “great development” of the country’s diplomacy had brought more opportunities for Macau-related diplomatic work.
“Having only been here a few days, I can already feel the vitality and harmony of Macau,” Ye said, adding Macau’s development remained stable and sound although the city has entered a period of adjustment marked by slower economic growth.
According to the website of the commissioner’s office, Ye’s last position before his posting to Macau was vice-minister of the Office of the Leading Group of Foreign Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The Fujian native’s previous overseas postings include San Francisco, Los Angeles and Houston. He served as ambassador to Dominica, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Myanmar.
