Macau’s number of licensed motor vehicles rose five percent year-on-year to 220,591 at the end of June, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said Wednesday.
Scooters and other types of motorcycles accounted for 53 percent of the total number of motor vehicles.
The number of new registrations of motor vehicles increased eight percent to 8,994 in the first half.
The traffic police recorded 7,156 traffic accidents, resulting in 2,504 people being injured and 10 fatalities.
A total of 2.27 million vehicle trips took place between Macau and Guangdong between January and June, up six percent year-on-year. Some 82 percent of the vehicle traffic went through the Barrier Gate checkpoint.(macaunews)
