Chief Executive Electoral Management Committee President Song Man Lei announced the dates for the nomination and campaign periods for next month’s chief executive election.

Song said that between July 14 and 29, permanent residents could collect nomination forms for the new chief executive from the Public Administration Building in Rua do Campo, and return them before July 29, while the election campaign period begins on August 16 and ends on August 29, two days before the election of the chief executive by a 400-member committee.

Song said the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) had notified her committee that the final results of the election of the Chief Executive Election Committee members have been verified. She added that the names of the 400 members will be published in the Official Gazette (BO) next week.

A potential candidate needs to be nominated by at least 66 Chief Executive Election Committee, or 16.5 percent of the committee’s members.

So far, Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On is the only declared candidate. (macaunews/macaupost)
