Macau’s population reached 631,000 at the end of the third quarter, up by about 7,000 quarter-to-quarter due to an increase in imported labour, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said Monday.

According to the statement, females accounted for 50.6 percent of the population.

The number of non-resident workers (imported labour) rose by 7,567 between the second and third quarter to 162,877, accounting for 25.8 percent of the population.

The number of immigrants from the mainland leapt 237 percent year-on-year to 2,656 in the third quarter.(macaunews/macaupost)
