President Xi Jinping has commended Macau’s “great achievements” in implementing the “one country, two systems” principle.
Xi made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On, who was in Beijing to report on his work to the central government.
Xi listened to Chui’s report and expressed the central government’s recognition of Chui’s work.
“When I visited Macau several days ago, I saw the development and changes in Macau at first hand and witnessed the great achievements the region has made in the practice of ‘one country, two systems’,” Xi said.
Xi also said the central government and Macau society had great hopes for Chui and his government, calling for greater initiatives and vigilance against governing risks.
Also present at the meeting were National People’s Congress (NPC) Chairman Zhang Dejiang, Vice President Li Yuanchao and other senior officials.(macaunews/macaupost)
