Shenzhen will soon become the home of the world’s largest Legoland resort.
Set to open in 2024, the 584,000-square-metre development will include a theme park, water park and three hotels, according to Siegfried Boerst, its general manager. His remarks at a cultural industries expo in the southern Chinese metropolis were quoted in People’s Daily.
Boerst told the state-owned paper that the theme park would have multiple thematic zones and more than 100 rides and attractions.

The resort will also have a theatre with a seating capacity more than 1,000 and will stage shows created specifically for local audiences, he added.
The resort is located on Shenzhen’s Dapeng peninsula – an ecological zone famed for its rugged coastlines and sea views – and is one of three Legoland resorts under construction in mainland China.
Construction work began in 2021 and total investment in the park reportedly exceeds US$1 billion.
