Police have reported two more untimely deaths over the New Year holidays, in addition to the two suicides reported earlier.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report on Sunday afternoon that a man had hanged himself on a building’s rooftop on Rua de Nossa Senhora do Amparo.
According to the PJ, relatives of the victim, a 68-year-old local man surnamed Lao, went up to the rooftop hut where he lived to check on him earlier that day since he had not come down for lunch, only to find that he hanged himself with a white electrical wire from a beam. A suicide note was found at the scene.
On Friday, the PJ were informed by an off-duty firefighter that a female corpse had been washed ashore near Avenida dos Jardins do Oceano.
No identification document or suicide note were found at the scene; the victim was a 1.65-metre-tall, thin, Asian female with long brown hair.
After a preliminary examination, no suspicious or criminally induced injuries were found on the corpse, The Macau Post Daily reported. Autopsies will be carried out in due course.
