A 30-year-old local man was found to have collapsed in the toilet of a VIP room in the City of Dreams casino-hotel complex by security staff on Monday and was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but later was pronounced dead.
The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement that they received a report that an ambulance was required at The Countdown hotel located in the City of Dreams integrated resort in Cotai.
According to local Chinese-language media reports, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said that when firefighters arrived at the scene, the man seemed to have passed out, and after examination, it was discovered that he was not breathing and his heart had stopped beating, adding that there were no visible injuries on his body.
The Fire Services Bureau said the man was rushed by ambulance to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre but was later pronounced dead.
Macao’s ambulance service is run by the Fire Services Bureau.
According to the Fire Services Bureau, the man was a local 30-year-old resident.
The Public Security Police said that the case has been transferred to the Judiciary Police (PJ) to investigate the cause of the man’s death and that the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) has been notified about the incident.
According to Ou Mun Tin Toi, the Chinese-language radio station of public broadcaster TDM, the man was an employee of the VIP room.
