The deadline for the pick-up of the consumption subsidy smartcards has been extended to July 17, the Macau Monetary Authority announced today.

The previous deadline, April 30, has had to be postponed due to the fact that some Macau residents that have registered for the card are unable to return to Macau to pick them up within the allotted period of time, due either to personal health conditions or the anti-epidemic control measures set in place.

Residents can collect the consumption cards at the following locations after April 30:

The Economic Bureau of Macau calls on registered Macau residents to try and pick up their cards on or before April 30 at one of the 149 pickup points. They will be able to start spending the MOP 3,000 starting May 1 to July 31. The second phase will include the additional MOP 5,000 to be spent between August and December.

The government said last week that if a resident does not spend all the 3,000 patacas in the first phase of the scheme, the remainder will not be carried forward into the second phase and will instead return to the public coffers.

These consumption subsidy smartcards are part of the Macau government financial support measures for residents and businesses.

The registration period of the consumption subsidy scheme ran between March 18 and April 8. Over 658,000 residents have registered for the smartcard, the government announced last week.

Macau’s around 190,000 non-resident workers have not been included in the consumption subsidy scheme.
