Officers of the Macau Customs Service, in conjunction with inspectors of the Health Bureau (SSM), have seized over 500 illegally imported pharmaceutical products from three shops selling cosmetics and beauty products, according to a joint statement by the two government entities on Thursday.
According to Macau Post Daily, the customs officers and health inspectors jointly inspected cosmetics and beauty product shops in the peninsula’s northern district on Tuesday.
During the joint operation, they discovered that three shops in the district were selling pharmaceutical products which did not have import permits. More than 500 such items were seized; primarily eye drops made in Japan, acne creams, pain relievers for rheumatism, cough medicines and vitamin pills, according to the statement.
The statement said that the three shops had illegally imported the pharmaceutical products, adding that they also illegally sold medicines – without obtaining a licence from the Health Bureau to run a business allowed to sell medicines.
