The three-day extension of Macao’s current consolidation period is set to begin tomorrow, with shops in malls allowed to resume operations with limited services.
According to Executive Order No. 137/2022, during the extension period (from 00:00 on 30 July to 00:00 on 2 August), all stores in shopping malls will be allowed to re-open as long as they comply with the city’s pandemic prevention measures, such as limiting the number of working staff and customers in-store and enforcing social distancing rules.
In addition, people entering the premises will need to provide a green health code, with the shops required to provide their venue QR code and everyone must wear a facemask. All people in Macao must wear a surgical facemask or a higher-standard facemask – such as KN95 – when leaving their homes.
The consolidation period’s extension – first announced by the Health Bureau on Wednesday – was officially issued by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng as an executive order, published in the Official Gazette today.
The order pointed out that indoor renovations will also be allowed starting tomorrow.
However, except for work, shopping or other necessary and urgent reasons, people in Macao are still urged to stay at home.
All food and beverage establishments, including restaurants, are to remain offering only take-away services, while cinemas, theatres, indoor amusement parks, video game centres, internet cafes, billiard venues, bowling centres, saunas, massage parlours, beauty salons, fitness centres, gyms, health clubs, karaoke clubs, bars, nightclubs, discotheques, dance halls and swimming pools will remain closed during the extended consolidation period, according to the order.
Hair salons, which have recently been allowed to open with limited services, can continue their limited operations during the extended period.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Affairs Bureau said it will reopen more parks, gardens and leisure areas across Macao, including hiking trails in Taipa and Coloane, cycling tracks and dog parks. However, children’s playground areas, fitness equipment, pavilions and other facilities in the parks will remain closed to avoid crowd gathering.
