US gaming operator Wynn Resorts (Macau) has set up a foundation with an initial fund of MOP 10 million (US$1.25 million) to promote Macao’s “prosperous and harmonious development”, according to the foundation’s statues published in the Macao Government Gazette (BO) today.
According to the statues, the foundation’s establishment was formally recognised by an executive order issued by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng on 9 July.
The foundation’s name in English is “Wynn Care Foundation”. It is based at the gaming operator’s casino-hotel resort in Nape.
According to the statues, the aim of the foundation is to have a “positive social impact” on Macao and other areas in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), as well as other places where it carries out its activities.
The foundation aims to promote and support education projects for young people, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and young businesspeople, activities by volunteers, charitable and community activities, environmental protection and sustainable development, and sports, recreative and cultural events.
Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. “will always be the president the foundation,” the statues state.
The president will be represented in its first four-year renewable term by Linda Chen Chih Ling, the company’s long-time executive.
According to the website of Hong Kong-listed Wynn Macau, Chen is the vice-chairman, COO and executive director of the company, president and executive director of Wynn Resorts (Macau), and president of Wynn International Marketing
Chen is responsible for global marketing and strategic development of Wynn Resorts, according to the website.
The website points out that Chen “is also the creator of “Wynn Care” – a corporate outreach initiative focused on social and charitable volunteer activities designed to benefit the greater Macao community.”
Wynn Resorts (Macau) owns two of Macao’s 41 casinos.
