Macau Roosevelt hotel opened on Wednesday with a casino in the name of the Macau Jockey Club with 30 gaming tables and 90 slot machines, as well as VIP rooms.

According to the Macau Post Daily, the five-star hotel, located right next to Macau Jockey Club, has 368 rooms and an outdoor pool overlooking the racecourse. There will also be a chapel on the lawn near the pool for weddings.

Yoho Group Managing Director Mike Lam Hin Wai told reporters after the opening ceremony that the HK$2 billion hotel is the only Roosevelt hotel in Asia and targets high-end customers.

Lam said that the hotel was positioned at a slightly higher standard and rate than the hotels of the same class in Cotai. Online booking sites show that the room rate for weekdays next month is about HK$1,000 per night.

Lam declined to answer any questions related to the casino. “We just treat that as a complementary service to our hotel,” he said.

Lam said in his opening speech that because the government is positioning Macau as an international tourism and leisure city, his company Yoho Group was able to be commercially successful and gain a good reputation in its hospitality, real estate development, trade and construction as well as funeral services.
