The 13th China (Macau) International Yacht Import & Export Fair is set to boost the number of international visitors to the city, according to event organisers at a press conference earlier this week. The fair will run between 9 and 12 November, at Coloane’s yacht berthing area.

There’ll be more yachts on display than in any previous year – over 40 luxury vessels – and more than 20,000 attendees from the mainland and abroad are expected, Macao Daily News reports. The event is jointly organised by Nam Kwong (Group) Company, China National Machinery Industry Corporation, and the Macao Convention & Exhibition Association.

Nam Kwong Group’s deputy general manager, Song Xiaodong, reportedly said that yacht fair participants tend to spend “2.55 times longer” in the city than regular tourists. “They are also expected to spend seven times more,” he noted, without giving a source for the figure.

Song described the fair as one of Macao’s signature events, well-known in the international yachting fraternity and attracting marine brands from around the world. About 500 special guests from the industry have been invited.

Organisers said the event will also host industry forums, cocktail parties, and a youth sailing regatta.

The fair was not held in 2020, 2021, or 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
