Local law firm MdME won the inaugural Macao Law Firm of the Year Award at the Chambers Asia-Pacific and Greater China Region Awards 2024, held in Hong Kong on 29 May, according to a statement released by the organisers.
The awards are held annually by the law research firm Chambers and Partners in recognition of law firms in the region that have excelled in their work, development and client service in the last 12 months.
MdME was among a group of five contenders that included, JNV; Manuela António; Rato, Ling, Lei & Cortés; and Riquito.

In response to the win, MdME’s managing partner, Rui Pinto Proença said, “It is a testament to the superb work and dedication of our entire team at MdME and to the continuous trust of our clients.” He also noted that the prize was “even more special” for the firm, as it was the very first time the Chambers had designated a category for the SAR.
MdME grew in size last year after it merged with another Macao-based firm, DSL, in October.
Other winners of the 2024 regional awards included Hong Kong-based firm Deacons, which bagged the China Great Bay Area (GBA) Law Firm of the Year title from six other nominees, including MdME. Meanwhile, China Commercial Lam Lee Lai (Qianhai) Associate Law Firm was crowned the China GBA Joint Venture Law Firm of the Year.
