The civil aviation authorities of the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau signed an agreement on enhancing air traffic management co-operation in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region on Monday, the Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) said in a statement.

The trilateral pact was signed in Hong Kong. Macau was represented by AACM President, Simon Chan Weng Hong.

According to the AACM statement, the three authorities agreed to strengthen co-ordination in the PRD region’s air traffic management.

The statement said the main objective of the agreement was to ensure that the PRD region’s airports “can develop in an orderly manner in accordance with their own positioning” so that their development can achieve “a win-win situation.”

The PRD region comprises five airports – Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Macau and Zhuhai.
