The government has authorised The Parisian to install 150 gaming tables until over three phases until 2018, Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac said on Saturday.
Leong, whose portfolio oversees the gaming industry, made the remarks on the sidelines of a public function, responding to reporters’ questions.
According to Leong, Sands’ The Parisian has been authorised to start with 100 mass-market gaming tables when it opens on September 13, to be followed by an additional 25 tables in two phases before 2018.
He also said The Parisian was allowed to run 1,600 gaming machines.
Leong said the government would stick to its decision to limit growth in the city’s number of gaming tables to three percent annually until 2022. The 3-percent growth limit has been in place since 2013.
Leong also welcomed last month’s 1.1 percent gross gaming revenue growth, which ended a 26-month drop. However, he cautioned that the government needed to monitor the revenue situation over the next few months to be able to come up with a “more scientific” assessment.
