Gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau casinos dropped 3.5 percent in July from a year earlier, according to data released today by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) .
Revenue was 24.45 billion patacas (US$ 3.04 billion) in July compared with 25.52 billion patacas ( US$ 3.19 billion ) in July last year.
Revenue in the first seven months fell by 0.9 percent to 173.956 billion patacas (US$ 21.7 billion).
Revenues drop to just below analyst expectations showing a slow VIP revenue growth.
Macau’s six gaming and gambling concession holders had 41 casinos at the end of the first half, of which 22 were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six by Galaxy Casino, five by Venetian Macau, four by Melco Crown (Macau), two by Wynn Resorts, and two by MGM Grand Paradise, with 6,586 gaming tables and 17,296 slot machines.
Two of the Sociedade de Jogos de Macau’s casinos – Macau Palace and Greek Mythology – are provisionally suspended, according to the DICJ.
A total of 57,246 people were employed full-time by Macau’s gaming sector at the end of 2018. (Macaunews)
