Macao int’l airport passenger traffic reaches new record in JulyMacao International Airport (MIA) experienced its busiest month ever in this summer, as over 740,000 passenger movements were recorded in July 2018, MIA said on Thursday in its air traffic report.

The report said 740,000 is the new record of the highest single month passenger traffic, with average daily passenger traffic of over 23,000, 11 percent higher compared with the same period last year.

There were over 5,700 aircraft movement in July, 12 percent more than the same period of last year. It also sets a new monthly record for aircraft movement since the operation of MIA.

Chinese mainland routes continue to perform well in July and taking up 36 percent of the overall passenger market, while Southeast Asia and China’s Taiwan region account for 41 percent and 22 percent respectively.

The report also expected the passenger traffic and flight movements of MIA will grow even more and should make another breakthrough during the peak summer vacation season in August this year.

According to Xinhua News Agency by the end of July 2018, around 30 airlines operate at MIA, connecting Macao to 50 destinations covering Chinese mainland, China’s Taiwan region, Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
