The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (known by its Portuguese initials IFTM) has announced it will launch its first Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme in the coming academic year, focusing on innovation, industry relevance, and global perspectives.
The Doctor of Business Administration programme aims “to cultivate visionary leaders who can drive positive change and shape the future of the business and service industries in Macao, mainland China and beyond,” IFTM said in a statement.
Students can take the DBA in Chinese or English. A number of specialisations are on offer, including international hospitality management, international event management, and digital marketing and analytics.
The expected duration of the programme is three years, with students completing a doctoral thesis in their final year. Studies have been designed with working professionals in mind, so classes will be scheduled for evenings and weekends.

“Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to excel as industry leaders, consultants, policymakers, and scholars,” IFTM said.
The DBA’s application period is now open and enrolment ends on 20 June, 2024.
Last month, IFTM announced it would launch two new Masters programmes in the next academic year – a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in international hospitality and tourism management (with a specialisation in events management) and a Master of Science (MSc) in international events management.
The QS World University Rankings considers ITFM the best place in Asia to study tourism and hospitality subjects, and the 10th best in the world.
