Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac said on Wednesday that the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has granted MGM Cotai 125 gaming tables.

Leong spoke to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with young people at the Macau Young Entrepreneurs Incubation Centre in Nape.

Leong said that the gaming inspectorate authorised 100 new gaming tables for operations at MGM Cotai from its opening on Monday, with an extra 25 tables to be added from January 1 next year.

He said that MGM China would transfer 77 tables from MGM Macau to MGM Cotai. The policy secretary did not say when the 77 extra tables would be transferred from the US gaming company’s property in Nape to Cotai.

According to The Macau Post Daily, Leong added that the inspectorate had also approved the installation of some 900 slot machines at the company’s Cotai resort from Monday.

While MGM Cotai opens its doors on Monday, the integrated resort’s gala opening is slated for February 13.
