The Secretary, speaking on Tuesday during a reception of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macau, said the government remains committed to ensuring full cooperation and support to Forum Macau secretariat and to furthering construction in Macau of a platform to promote exchange and economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Leong Vai Tac also gave assurances that in 2017 the government will coordinate the work related to the establishment, in Macau, of the headquarters of the Fund for Development Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries and accelerate the construction of the Service Platform for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, the “Three centres,” the financial services platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and the Services Platform Complex for Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The Secretary also said that the government will study the construction of an offshore base for innovation and entrepreneurship between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, to promote the accreditation of traditional Chinese medicine, establish an independent fair in Macau called the Pavilion for Products and Services from Portuguese Speaking Countries, strengthen Sino-Lusophone cooperation in the” International Forum on Investment and Construction of Infrastructure,” accelerate the creation of a credit insurance scheme for the import, export and transport of goods and consider subsidising companies to pay a portion of the respective insurance premium.

Leong Vai Tac also announced that the government of Macau will support the organisation of a visit to Brazil for representatives of the provinces and regions of the Pan Pearl River Delta to promote cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and organise economic and commercial exchanges between enterprises from the Portuguese-speaking countries, mainland China and countries in the “One Belt, One Road” area.

The Secretary recalled that the Macau government will respond to all the decisions taken during the 5th Ministerial Conference of Forum Macau, held in October 2016, where the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang announced a series of measures to support Macau as a service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
