A company called Goldsmart officially launched Macao’s first automated gold recycling machines at two locations yesterday, in collaboration with Shenzhen-based Kinghood Group, a Fortune China 500 company.
The first location, at Centro Comercial Praia Grande, features currency exchange services, a showcase of works by contemporary artists and a café in addition to the gold recycling machines and gold and jewellery sales. The second store is located at L’Arc Hotel in NAPE.
Chairman Yany Kwan Yan Chi told Macau Post Daily that while the gold trade has been around for years, the machines offered a new process.

They use high precision sensors to analyse the purity and weight of the gold, and will display its real-time valuations within minutes, without hidden fees, he said.
It was also noted that the machines use internationally compliant detection technology to deliver accurate and reliable results, while the whole process is recorded for user protection. The service processes all brands and types of gold jewellery and bullion, Kwan added.
There are nine new GoldSmart machines in this first batch, each integrating inspection, appraisal and valuation into a single unit, thus enabling a process with no manual operation.
