Zhang Yaqin, president of Beijing-based internet giant Baidu, will be giving a lecture on “Advances in Autonomous Driving” on Monday at the University of Macau (UM) campus on Hengqin Island, according to a UM statement on Tuesday.
At the event, Zhang will talk about the opportunities and challenges brought about by autonomous driving from “technological, industrial and policy perspectives”, the statement said.
The lecture, which is a part of the University Lecture Series, will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation into Putonghua, the statement noted.
The statement pointed out that Zhang is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), as well as a fellow of the Australian National Academy of Engineering (ATSE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).
He has received more than 60 patents in the United States and has had over 560 academic papers and 11 books published, the statement noted.
He also holds board memberships and adjunct professorships at eight universities in China, the United States and Australia, the statement underlined.
According to the Macau Post Daily, during the talk, Zhang will address some of the controversial and key issues in the advances in autonomous driving technology, the statement said.
According to the statement, the lecture will start at 3:30 p.m. in the Mr and Mrs Lau Chor Tak Lecture Theatre (G078) of the Anthony Lau Building (E4).
